Polo, already established globally, has evolved into a compelling corporate event, embracing practical and engaging formats that enhance its appeal. Whether played on snow, sand, or synthetic pitches, or adapted into fast-paced exhibitions with fewer players, the sport has cemented its status as an attractive spectacle for corporate brands.
In line with this trend, First Capital Bank partnered with the company Playground to host the Arena Polo event for the second consecutive year on the picturesque beaches of Mozambique.
A Premium Sporting Spectacle
The bank proudly served as the Main Sponsor of the Second Edition of Beach Polo Mozambique, a prestigious sporting event that seamlessly blends elegance, high-level competition, and premier entertainment.
The 2025 edition took place on November 22 at South Beach in the capital, Maputo. The initiative garnered significant institutional support from the Maputo City Council and INATUR and was held in partnership with the Embassy of Argentina. The primary goal of the event is to promote equestrian sport, elevate Mozambican tourism, and position the country on the international beach polo circuit, all while convening influential figures from the business and social spheres.
The Visionary Behind the Event
The driving force behind the organization is Miguel Proença, General Manager of Playground, the company organizing Beach Polo Mozambique, and a well-known advertising entrepreneur in the country. Proença highlighted that Beach Polo Mozambique strategically combines sport, glamour, and tourism, generating valuable employment opportunities and contributing significantly to local development in areas such as logistics, hospitality, catering, and security.
A Strategy for Growth
Ana Russo, Head of Marketing and Communication at First Capital Bank, emphasized that supporting Beach Polo Mozambique goes beyond a mere sponsorship. It is a key continuation of a brand positioning strategy that, since 2019, has consistently associated the Bank with initiatives of national and international relevance. This strategy is designed to promote premium experiences and strengthen relationships with clients and partners.
"We are delighted to bring this discipline, still relatively unknown, to the city of Maputo, opening the door for polo to be practiced in Mozambique as well," she stated.
First Capital Bank has announced that it is actively considering replicating the polo event model in other African nations like South Africa and Mozambique, where the polo community is expanding and developing year over year.
Exclusive Client Engagement
As the Main Sponsor, First Capital Bank capitalized on the opportunity to offer exclusive moments to its clients, deepening relationships and solidifying the brand’s presence among the public. Through this high-profile initiative, the Bank reaffirms its commitment to supporting activities that promote sport, social interaction, and excellence, aligning perfectly with its core values and its dedication to delivering meaningful experiences.
The second edition featured teams of riders from diverse nationalities, international commentators, and a comprehensive cultural and social responsibility program, ensuring a truly unique experience for all attendees.
