YOND Brazil is a project of both national and international significance, designed to bolster tourism in Santa Cruz Cabrália and the surrounding region.
The launch of the YOND real estate and tourism complex in the village of Santo André, Santa Cruz Cabrália, marks the Discovery Coast's preparation for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup. Scheduled to take place in Brazil from 24 June to 25 July of that year, the tournament will feature Salvador as one of its host cities. The project was originally conceived to serve as a high-performance training base for one of the participating national teams. Its official presentation took place at the Campo Bahia Hotel, located in the same village, with the participation of local authorities, tourism sector representatives, and the Bahia State Tourism Secretariat (Setur-BA), which played a key role in securing this private investment.
This initiative by the Pegasus YOND Group—the developers behind Campo Bahia, which hosted the German national team during the 2014 World Cup—is a new sustainable venture with an estimated budget of US$ 360 million. Construction is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2026.
The first phase includes the construction of 16 bungalows (out of a projected total of 185) and a sports centre, with delivery timed to support the 2027 World Cup organisation. The second phase will see the completion of a luxury resort in 2029. The master plan also incorporates dedicated spaces for sports, health, education, and cultural activities, with a phased completion scheduled through 2032.
"This project follows a similar model to the one we developed for the 2014 World Cup, but with the aim of leaving a permanent legacy long after the women’s tournament. The space will integrate sport, education, health, and other social components. Three national teams have already expressed interest in using the facility as their base," explained Stefan Gast, CEO of Pegasus YOND. Gast is a businessman based in Portugal who previously promoted the Comporta Polo Club project in that country.
Following the sporting event, professional-grade polo fields and equestrian centres will be constructed. For this phase, the company will benefit from a strategic partnership and consultancy with Colts Polo & Riding Pte Ltd, alongside British and German investors. In line with this strategy, Colts Polo will serve as a key partner in establishing an international network and overseeing the design, construction, and operation of the polo and equestrian centre at YOND—a significant addition to Brazil’s prestigious equestrian tradition.
YOND is a pioneering lifestyle development encompassing state-of-the-art sports and hospitality facilities, a high-end residential area, and one of the most prominent polo and equestrian centres in Brazil. Subsequent phases will introduce education and longevity centres. With a clear mandate for corporate social responsibility, YOND aims to empower local communities through access to sport, education, and cultural engagement.
The complex is situated in Santo André, Santa Cruz Cabrália (Bahia), across a 260-hectare coastal estate featuring approximately 3 km of beachfront. The site is located just north of Trancoso, the most established luxury destination on the Brazilian coast.
